UVA CIREN Researchers Attend NHTSA Crash Investigation Training

In early December 2018, NHTSA’s Crash Investigation Division organized a training session for crash investigators which included a day-long instructional session examining 75 crashed vehicles in the Arizona desert.

UVA CIREN researchers Tom Hartka and Greg Shaw attended in order to gain hands-on knowledge regarding the information coded in crash databases they utilize to explore injury trends and the effectiveness of occupant safety systems.
